FOC_US

In our modern world, focus is often seen as an important strategy for concentrating ambitiously, ambitiously or without distraction on goals, plans, performance and prestige. Most of the time it is about individual gains and achievements. However, if we look at the term FOCUS holistically, it takes on a complex dimension.

The English word FOC_US contains the word US (WE) and the abbreviation FOC (field of concentration). Focus therefore means the presence and awareness of unity: perceiving, deciding and acting from a sense of WE.

Meditation enables us to observe our conscious or unconscious focus: instead of rigidly directing our focus towards a goal, meditation gives us space and time to receive and identify the current focus. We sit in silence and perceive which part of our being is making itself known:

THE PHYSICAL BODY
I-existence
Structures of the individual

THE MENTAL BODY
We-Connection
Social MOVEMENT / DYNAMICS within subgroups or humanity

THE SUBTLE BODY
All-connectedness
Vibration / harmony of humanity, animals, insects, plants and minerals

Which existential body comes forward when sitting still, wants to chatter, take the lead or control? How does this particular part of the body respond during meditation?

Meditation shows us time and again that our attention in modern everyday life is often completely unconsciously devoted to one of the three main foci. By recognizing and accepting the unconscious focus and thus bringing it into harmony with the other dimensions of existence, we create inner peace, inner harmony and access to the pure joy of life: then love can flow freely and unconditionally in receiving and giving.

Physical body
Being grounded in the physical body means “I exist”, I am present, I am there – with conscious boundaries, strengths and needs. I accept the wonderful space in which I receive emotions and transform them into feelings. It is in this perception and inner work that my life takes place.

Mental body
The mental focus is where our heart is: it shows us our emotional connection to others and to the world. This is where the movement arises – the interaction with other people and the environment. Empathy, compassion and the ability to focus on the “we” are at the heart of this mental body. Constructively focused in the heart means we open the heart from sub-communities into a single humanity: we no longer perceive ourselves as individuals, but as humanity. When we are present in the heart focus, we can move in the world as a community out of compassion.

Subtle bodies
The focus of the SEE_LE goes even deeper. It is already in the word: here the one drop no longer exists as a singular individual, but flows with a SEE. Here we feel the universal interconnectedness of all things through vibrations and energies. The tricky focus of the soul is anything but romantic; it is very consistent in perceiving from wholeness and unity. The focus of the soul reminds us that we are part of a much larger, all-encompassing system, and that harmony underlies the harmony of this all-connectedness.

However, none of the three bodies of existence is better or more important than the others. For a healthy, fulfilling life, all three focal points are equally important: their interaction makes the music.
