DID YOU KNOW?

Most people don’t like mosquitoes. Sometimes they are even hated. Why? Because they bother us and we don’t see the point of their existence. But what do we know?

No mosquitoes, no chocolate – mosquitoes are responsible for pollination so that cocoa can be produced in the first place. Indeed. Mosquitoes play a very important role in biodiversity. But why are there mosquitoes here in Europe?

Perhaps the original “food of the gods” did not only exist in Africa and South America thousands of years ago? Perhaps the origin of the Musenkuss, as cocoa is also affectionately known, goes back to a time that today raises many mysteries, namely how the indigenous peoples around the globe were well connected and communicated with each other. In this respect, Moray in the Cusco region is a very interesting place. Today, the site looks like a huge amphitheater set in the Andean landscape. But it was a laboratory of the Incas. Vegetable and fruit seeds from all the coastal regions of Peru were found here. How did the mountains, which were over 5000 meters high at the time, get there? What were the Incas researching in this huge laboratory?
